Traveling is tough. Traveling with children – even tougher. Airlines generally suggest that arrive at the airport three hours before your flight is scheduled to depart. Checking in usually takes about one hour, leaving two hours in which you must find a way to occupy yours, and your child’s, time. And that is only at the airport. Once you are aboard your flight, you are forced to sit in your barely big enough seat for hours upon end. This is hard enough for an adult, let alone a child. If you are traveling with children, do not fear, there are things that you can do to help your child through the long airport process.

The main thing you will want to do when traveling with children, is keep them occupied. While you are traveling, you will spend several hours in the airport and several hours on the plane. For anyone who has children, you know that keeping them happy, even at home, is a difficult task. Therefore, keeping them content in an airport where there is little to nothing for children to do, is even more difficult. If you are traveling with children make sure to pack games, coloring books, or toys that will fit in your carry on luggage and that can occupy your child’s attention. For older children, consider beginning a journal in which your child can write down their experiences while on vacation.

Having help is a good way to ensure that you travel successfully with children. Managing more than one child on the train, bus or an aircraft can be difficult if you have no assistance. The degree of difficulty depends on the age and needs of the child. Having the care of one or more children under the age of 8 years as you travel can be challenging.

It is always a good idea to pack games and toys which can entertain and stimulate the minds of the children. Children who are bored are likeliest to find themselves involved in activities which can be troublesome. This includes marking on public walls, frequent visits to rest rooms, fusses with siblings and other challenging behavior. Be sure to bring along their favorite toys, books or games.

Language: If there is likely to be a language barrier then also purchase a phrase book. The ability to say “yes” and “no”, “please” and “thankyou”, “hello” and “goodbye” in a foreign language (at least) will stand you in good stead with the locals! If you can order food, drinks and understand menus and signs, even better – this will serve two purposes, getting you respect from locals and allowing you to take a foreign holiday confident that you will not get ripped off because you cannot understand what people are saying.

Children: If travelling with children then make sure you have something to keep them entertained. You do not need something just for the flight, but also for the evenings when you are at base. Children are easily bored, and foreign TV (especially if in a none English speaking country) is not fun for children as the only English shows they have are news channels. You will maybe need a few toys (electronic ones are best – batteries are universal and electronic chargers can be used via adaptors you buy before you go away). And they do not take up a lot of luggage space as they can be carried in hand luggage. Also take paper and pencils to allow some time spent drawing.

Flying can be one nerve-racking experience; add to that children and you are in for one bumpy ride. Avoiding the stress of flying with children can be done, if a parent knows certain techniques and methods to keep the kids happy while onboard a plane. Children need to be kept busy to avoid the tantrums and fits that occur when a child has been cooped up too long; the following article will address the things one can do to keep the kids in check and your stress levels down during domestic and international travel.

Taking a family vacation with the kids can be fun or stressful, depending on how you handle it. Several tips exist for the travel-weary parent. One thing to keep in mind is that kids need something to do; one great idea is to bring along coloring books or sticker books. Kids love coloring, but this may only last so long. Bringing some books to read for older children is also a good idea. Portable DVD players are a great way to keep kids busy as well. Your vacation will start off easily if you bring something for the kids to do while flying.

Overseas flights can be very long; since kids easily get aggravated while traveling, it will help to have a variety of activities. In addition to books, coloring books, and movies, bringing portable video games (for appropriate age levels) is another idea that will keep kids occupied. Another great idea is comic books or activity books that have puzzles and word games. Even simple games such as a pack of cards can keep kids keep themselves amused for a few hours. Remember, the key to long travel is having a variety of portable activity.

Children that are not used to flying may experience discomfort during the take-off and especially on the descent to land. The pressure changes affect the inner ear, which can be an odd experience. It can also be aggravating, if you don’t know how to pop your ears. The best advice for babies is to give them a bottle during take-off and landing; if you breast-feed, then give them a breast. Children can be appeased with earplugs or cotton balls placed in their ears prior to take-off and landing. These tips will keep the kids from being upset by the odd feeling that occurs in the ear as a result of those pressure changes during international travel.

Enjoy your vacation’s start by keeping the kids pleased. During long flights, where meals are only served at certain times, a great idea while traveling with children is to bring along snacks. Cookies, chips, yogurt, water, juice, and milk are all good ideas when onboard long flights. Getting these things while on the flight may be difficult, so plan ahead. Kids don’t always want to eat when food is served, so bringing snacks is another good way to keep the children from becoming agitated while flying.

Taking a vacation involving air travel can be a bad experience if you don’t make plans for your childrens in-flight comfort. Children need to be fed, feel secure, be occupied and amused, and have their ears prepared for pressure changes during flights. There are many common health problems that your Golden Retriever will experience from time to time. Most of these ailments are nothing serious, providing you know how they should be treated and prevented. Below, we will take a look at the most common ailments, and tell you how to prevent your Golden from getting them.

Distemper virus

The distemper virus is an airborne disease that poses a high risk. This virus can be prevented by getting your Golden 3 different vaccinations when he is between 6 and 16 weeks of age, along with his regular annual booster shot. The symptoms from this virus include fever, cough, diarrhea, and vomiting. If your Golden Retriever has these symptoms, you should immediately take him to see the vet.

Heartworms

Heartworms are among the most common ailment with all dog breeds. They can reach lengths of up to 12 inches in the heart and the lung arteries, leading to heart failure, a decrease in blood circulation, and even death in some cases. The symptoms with heartworms may not appear until it is too late, so you are better off preventing them with the correct heartworm medicines.

Heatstroke

During the summer months or hot days, your Golden Retriever can get a heatstroke. You can prevent this from happening by giving your dog plenty of water, and never leaving him in direct sunlight. If you are playing together on a hot day, you should give him plenty of time to rest so he doesn’t overdo it. The symptoms indicating a heatstroke include a lot of panting or drooling, dark gums, a glazed expression, rapid pulse, and even vomiting. If your dog starts to show any of these symptoms, you should immediately take him to the vet.

Rabies

Rabies is one of the more serious ailments that your Golden Retriever can get, as it has an adverse affect on your dog’s nervous system. Normally, dogs get rabies through a bite of another animal that is infected with the disease. There are rabies shots that helps to prevent the disease, and your dog should get them at least once a year. The symptoms of rabies include seizures, aggression, and foaming at the mouth. If you suspect your Golden has rabies, you should call the vet immediately.

Tapeworms

Tapeworms are normally caused by fleas, and affect your dog’s stomach. The symptoms for tapeworms include a loss in weight, diarrhea, and even biting of the rectal area. You can easily prevent your Golden from tapeworms by using a rigid flea control. If your Golden Retriever exhibits symptoms for tapeworms, you should take him to the vet immediately. If the vet catches them in time, he may be able to kill the tapeworms with an oral medicine.

Hookworms

Hookworms result from your Golden coming in contact with feces, his mother, or the worm simply burrowing under exposed skin. You can prevent your dog from getting hookworms by cleaning his living area and keeping his skin clean. The symptoms that accompany hookworms include a dry coat, weight loss, weakness, and blood in the stool. As with all other ailments, you should immediately contact your vet if your Golden Retriever starts to show any of these symptoms.

Although these are just some of the most common ailments for Golden Retrievers, there are other ailments and health problems that your dog can get. If your Golden starts to show any signs of ailment, disease, or health problem, you shouldn’t hesitate to contact your vet and set up an appointment. Some of these diseases and ailments can be pretty serious – although they can be treated if you catch them in time.

The beauty of this particular hotel doesn’t lie so much in its size or even the circus like atmosphere. The charm lies in the fact that it was something new and relatively untried along the Vegas strip. Rather than build to suit the gamblers they were hoping to attract, this particular hotel was wise enough to offer something new and untried by appealing to families with children rather than solely to gamblers.

The gamble seems to be paying off in a city that is known for both its hits and its misses. Other hotels and casinos are also working to cultivate the family friendly image that Circus Circus has basically proven. Not only did this hotel build The Adventuredome Theme Park they also decided to make accommodations even more family friendly by accommodating RVs at the Circusland RV Park. This offers a great place for families to stay that might not otherwise grace the theme park, hotel, or the casino.

Don’t forget that there is a casino involved and that is the primary purpose of this gigantic hotel, resort, and theme park. The casino makes the expense of building it all very much worthwhile and brings in big business of its own each and every day. In grand Vegas style there is also the requisite onsite shopping and of course full service of wedding options in addition to a wedding chapel and banquet facilities in which to hold the reception of your dreams. The shopping at Circus Circus offers everything from ultra exclusive boutique shops and salons to stores such as Under $10 and the trading Post, which offers fad jewelry and other kid friendly gifts.

This hotel has a somewhat unique concept that sets it apart from the many others along Vegas’ strip. If you are traveling to Vegas with the family I very much recommend at least checking them out and comparing prices and packages with the other hotels and resorts in the area. Keep in mind that comps are like money in the bank particularly when they involve food or activities that you were planning to do even without the comps. So you may be able to negotiate a much better deal even if you’re paying a couple more dollars a night by having free parking, complimentary meals, or tickets to events, shows, or attractions.

Now we’re on to my favorite part of the discussion. Dining options. Circus Circus does not disappoint when it comes to offering variety to its guests. In addition to The Steakhouse, there is The Garden Grill, Mexitallia, Pink Pony, Circus Buffet, Pizzeria, Westside Deli, and Barista Café. The food offerings accommodate varying budgets and familial needs by offering some kid friendly dining choices to visitors and guests as well. The good news however is that if these restaurants aren’t appealing to you there is another hotel, casino, or restaurant next door that has different fare to offer.

If you are looking for a great place to stay in Las Vegas along with the family there are very few hotels that will offer the overall environment of fun and wonder that you will find at Circus Circus. In addition to the wonderful rooms, the great food, the casino, and The Adventuredome Theme Park you will find that the shows here are as kid friendly and entertaining for the entire family as the atmosphere in general. This is a great vacation destination anywhere. Considering the fact that it is in Las Vegas and it is very nearly the perfect vacation retreat for those with children.
